2020 SciComm Workshop – CANCELLED

We regret to inform you that the Science Communicators of North Carolina (SCONC) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) science communication workshop on March 13th has been cancelled due to travel restrictions imposed on our speakers and panelists in response to COVID-19.  We are working on plans to reschedule the workshop for later in the year and will give individuals who registered for the cancelled conference priority registration for the new date.  Credit card refunds are currently being processed and may take 7-10 business days.  We thank you for your understanding, please contact us if you have any questions.

Science Communicators of North Carolina (SCONC) is teaming up with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to offer a day-long science communication workshop for scientists and science communicators.

For the morning session, join us for an American Association for the Advancement of Science Communicating Science workshop specifically designed to help you plan and participate in a wide variety of public engagement activities via social media!

In the afternoon, participants are invited to attend panels featuring experienced professionals from around the Research Triangle discussing topics including scicomm careers, useful tools, and the changing landscape. At the end of the day, be sure to introduce yourself to our panelists and other attendees at our networking session!

All are welcome to attend the morning and/or afternoon sessions, though the morning AAAS session will be geared more toward scientists who are interested in scicomm, while the afternoon panels will be more broadly relevant for scientists, scicomm professionals, and those interested in scicomm careers.

Can’t make the whole day? We offer morning- or afternoon-only registration.

Morning session:

9:00 to 12:00 Friday, March 13 – CANCELLED

Registration is free, but limited to 50 participants

Afternoon session:

1:00 to 6:00 Friday, March 13 – CANCELLED

$10 for SCONC members, $20 for friends of SCONC (become a SCONC member here!)
