Skywatching: Transit of Mercury
Come witness the passing of Mercury directly in front of the Sun at our FREE public skywatching session on Monday, November 11 at the Morehead Sundial from 11am to 1:04pm.
Mercury will look very small, but we will be using solar telescopes to ensure safe viewing with the help of the Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society (CHAOS).
The transit of Mercury only happens 13-14 times per century, so come view one while you have the chance! The next transit visible from Earth won’t be until 2032! And the next one visible from North America? 2049!
Location: Morehead Planetarium & Science Center (250 E Franklin St, Chapel Hill, NC 27514)
